capturing snippets of time through art
My journey as an artist started as a commercial photographer. To keep the artistic spark and enjoyment alive I also created contemporary photographs. I still enjoy the process of becoming still behind the lens and locking on to the angle that speaks to me most. You can find my "snippets of time" in photographic form on the Shop Prints page.
A few years later I was given the opportunity to teach very early photographic printing techniques at a college in Toronto, Canada. I came to realize that I loved the hands on, tactical, physical experience of creating art.
That led me to explore how else I could incorporate my photography into tactical art pieces. My first few experiments were a flop, I tried using things like wall paper paste, shoe glue and multiple different types of paper. The experimentation process was a great joy though. It gave my inner self a chance to come out explore without judgement. I finally settled on encaustics and photography and I have never looked back. I still continue to explore new techniques within encaustics and find contentment in the failures and successes. You can find my works with encaustic on the Shop Originals page.
